Better Burgers

 

 

1 cup TVP granules (textured vegetable protein)

1/4 cup rolled oats

1/2 tsp dried basil

1/2 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp dried parsley flakes

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp dry mustard

3/4 cup boiling water

2 Tb ketchup

2 Tb lite soy sauce

1 rounded TB smooth peanut butter

1/4 cup flour

1 Tb nutritional yeast flakes (optional)

 

Combine TVP and dry spices in medium bowl.  In a small bowl, combine water, ketchup, and soy sauce, and stir until blended.  Pour this into TVP mixture and combine well.  Let rest 5-10 minutes.

 

Add peanut butter and mix until incorporated, then stir in flour and yeast flakes.  Shape into 4 flat patties, about 4 inches in diameter.  Brown patties on each side in heavy skillet with a little oil.
